Ceramics and its Dimensions. Shaping the Future

30 January 2018 - 22 April 2018

Across Europe, ceramics has played an important role in people’s everyday lives since time immemorial. In private or public space, we are surrounded by ceramics and its use on a daily basis. What importance does the traditional material have today? What is the relationship between industrial production and craftsmanship, what potential is offered by digital technology, und how will the material play a role in future design? The exhibition “Ceramics and its Dimensions” explores these questions, presenting the results of the international project with the same name that unites 25 partner institutions from eleven European countries. Using the digital media, the project results are made accessible to a wide audience. With its rich art nouveau and art deco ceramics collection, Bröhan-Museum dares to look toward the future of ceramics design for the first time.
