The exhibition
will include objects executed in a range of materials and
techniques including silver, furniture, textiles, glass and
porcelain. After 1920, France experienced a last great style
epoch, which reflected the changed mood of the new generation.
Art Deco was dominated by a geometric language of forms influenced
by Cubism and Constructivism, and, similarly to Art Nouveau,
it found particular expression in interior design. Art Deco
took its name from the large international decorative arts
fair, the “Exposition Internationale des Arts Décoratifs et
Industriels Modernes” of 1925. Art Deco was a period style
in an age when artists sought to pervade all aspects of life
with art. It was a worldly and ornamental art form that flourished
between two world wars. |
