Ground Floor: Interior Decoration Art Nouveau / Art Deco

 suite, Maurice Dufrène

desk, chair, bureau, Süe et Mare, Paris
Chronological survey from the turn of the century up to the thirties. Within the interplay of furniture, decorative arts, paintings and sculpture each form of artistic expression is shown to bear a weight of its own. The variety of decorative arts during this period is illustrated as comprehensively as possible.

The interiors are named after their main furniture designer: Salon Hector Guimard, Salon Louis Majorelle, Salon Eugene Gaillard etc.

First Floor: Picture Gallery

Karl Hagemeister, Teich in der Mark (Pond in Brandenburg), c. 1902, oil on canvas

Walter Leistikow, Der Hafen (The Port), c. 1895, oil on canvas

Fine arts were part of the Bröhan collection from the very beginning. It is now, from December 1998 onwards, that the museum is able to present part of its rich collection of paintings, drawings and pastels in a picture gallery within newly acquired show rooms. The special, private origin of the collection remains visible in the choice of artists and works.

Paintings of the Berlin Secession painters Hans Baluschek, Karl Hagemeister, Willy Jaeckel and Walter Leistikow take an important place.
Two rooms are dedicated to Paul Thiersch with objects of the Burg Giebichenstein art school and to Richard Riemerschmid. On the corridor, precious arts and crafts are shown, particularly works in silver.

Third Floor: Special Exhibitions

A spacious hall with a gallery and excellent daylight is reserved for special exhibitions, lectures and cultural events. Arrangements can be made for this room by other organizers (private, institutional or business).
Two rooms are dedicated to Henry van de Velde, the Belgian Art Nouveau artist, and Josef Hoffmann, the Viennese Secession artist.

All floors are accessible by stairs and a lift.
